Pre-Allied Health Professions
Healthcare delivery is an increasingly collaborative effort, with diverse practitioners providing specialized knowledge, technological mastery, and preventative education. Physician assistants, physical therapists, occupational therapists, athletic trainers, genetic counselors, and more all play critical roles in providing safe and effective patient care. Our program provides individual advising to help students plan and apply for graduate or doctoral programs in healthcare, aside from those covered in our premedical, pre-nursing, and pre-pharmacy tracks, after completing a liberal arts education. Students interested in health careers should consult the program coordinator early in their time at Washington. Those who have noted their interest in considering a career in health care will become aware of expectations, requirements, procedures, and deadlines associated with the program.
External Partnerships
Washington College partners with Bridgewater College to afford our students the opportunity to gain admission into its Master of Science in Athletic Training program. As a health care professional, athletic trainers help athletes identify injuries related to physical activity, manage and rehabilitate developing, acute, and chronic injuries. Athletic trainers work with athletes and sometimes employees to help improve performance and to prevent injury. Athletic trainers work with individuals in environments like sport medicine facilities, high school, college, and university athletic centers.
