Arts and Culture
Washington College is a cultural hub for Chestertown, and our students benefit from many opportunities to experience the work of professionals and share their own creativity in many art forms.

Music
Washington College hosts dozens of concerts every year across many genres, from chamber music performances to experimental electronic music installations. The music department makes use of its strength in ethnomusicology and world music to bring international acts to campus regularly.

Theatre and Dance
Students, faculty, and staff all produce theatrical shows that add to the artform and train tomorrow's professionals while entertaining and enlightening Chestertown audiences. From student-written premieres to beloved musicals, you will find all kinds of shows to enjoy.

Visual Arts
Kohl Gallery is Washington College's flagship venue for visual arts programming and fosters the study and understanding of art through a diverse range of exhibitions and public programs. Embracing its liberal arts context, Kohl Gallery presents fresh perspectives on historical and contemporary art and promotes interdisciplinary conversations about historical, social, and cultural issues of significance to Washington College, Chestertown, and beyond.

Writing and the Literary Arts
Literature in all its expressions is a central part of Washington College culture, from poetry readings to generative workshops, from all aspects of the publishing industry to creating the unique art of printed broadsides, which combine visual arts and text.

Lectures, Masterclasses, and Readings
Several times a year, Washington College hosts speakers who share their professional expertise and glimpses into their careers. Artists, writers, producers, actors, musicians, directors, and others have all given public talks on campus.
