Washington College has been named to the list of Top Ten Small Colleges in the South by the WSJ/Times Higher Education, as part of their annual college rankings.

Small colleges are those with fewer than 3,000 undergraduate students. Washington College earned the #10 spot on the list of small colleges in the South, in addition to ranking #204 overall in the WSJ/THE 2022 College Rankings. Washington College is the only small college in Maryland to earn a spot in the top ten.

The WSJ/THE ranking is based on 15 factors across four main categories: Forty percent of each school’s overall score comes from student outcomes, including measures of graduate salaries and debt burdens, 30% from the school’s academic resources, including how much it spends on teaching, 20% from how well it engages its students and 10% from its environment, a measure of student and faculty diversity.
