Collaborative research this summer gives student beekeeper an opportunity to develop his chemistry skills while working with a faculty member on an issue he cares about.
Washington College invests hundreds of thousands of dollars in supporting students undertaking internships, conducting research, or engaging in creative scholarship every summer, extending their liberal arts education into fields they may pursue after graduation.
Created by Washington College, the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, and George Washington’s Mount Vernon, the $50,000 George Washington Prize is one of the nation’s largest and most notable literary awards.
In addition to major renovations to the library terrace, new outdoor furniture and recreational spaces are in the works, as well as improved kitchens and living rooms in Western Shore dorms.
The summer course provides students from Washington College and elsewhere a hands-on opportunity to learn archaeology techniques and includes one day when students share what they’ve learned with curious members of the public who come to help on the dig.
The spring semester recognition follows similar success in the fall. Washington’s Women’s Swimming team had a team average GPA among the best in Division III throughout 2022-23.
