Disability Services

The Office of Academic Skills provides disability access information, support, and accommodations for individuals with disabilities on campus. Our mission is to ensure that all students, employees, and visitors have equal access to programs and services available at Washington College.

Request an Accomodation

Accommodation Requests can be submitted by a current student at any point before or during the semester. Incoming students are encouraged to connect with Disability Services throughout their admissions process. Accommodation requests can be submitted at any point after admittance to the college. Formal accommodation meetings for incoming students are not held until students register for their fall classes (this happens in late June). Spring semester transfer students should connect with disability services during the fall.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have a testing center?
Yes, we have a private testing center located in The Office of Academic Skills on the second floor of Miller Library. Students with testing accommodations may utilize the center for distraction reduced tests, extended time, etc. Students who test in the center must schedule their tests on Accommodate at least 72 hours in advance.
Who do I talk to about accommodations and documentation?
The Assistant Director of Disability Access oversees all student disability accommodations, both academic and housing. Documentation should be from a wellness provider that clearly states the student's diagnosis and its impacts on the student. Disability services always welcome questions about documentation.
Do my high school accommodations transfer over?
No. Students are not registered with disability services until they submit an accommodation request through Accommodate, schedule a meeting with the Assistant Director of Disability Access, and receive written confirmation of their accommodations.
The semester has started, am I too late to submit a request?
Nope! Students may submit an accommodation request at any point. Students are reminded that accommodations are not retroactive.
