Brown Advisory Student-Managed Investment Fund
James Price IV, a former partner and managing director of Alex. Brown & Sons, funded the program to give Washington College’s business students an edge in launching careers in finance.
“When I finished college, I had no real-world knowledge of the investment world,” Price said. “When I started at Alex. Brown & Sons, I had great mentors but, as I look back, I always wished I had started with more knowledge of investments.”
What would you do with a million dollars?
As the students in the Brown Advisory Student-Managed Investment Fund Program know, the right answer is: “Invest.”
The Brown Advisory Student-Managed Investment Fund Program offers a unique opportunity for students to develop and utilize their investment skills by providing real-life investing experience. The program oversees a student-managed fund exceeding $1 million in equities. Students participating in the program have front-line responsibility for researching, recommending, and executing equity trades. The program includes field trips to finance markets and conferences, extensive interaction with mentors in the field, and ongoing research and learning opportunities that help prepare motivated, talented students for careers in the investment field. The investment program is open to all majors who are interested in gaining knowledge of the real investment world or planning to work in the finance industry after graduation.
