1782 Society
The 1782 Society is a community of donors who lead by example–investing in the people, places, and possibilities that define Washington College.
The name is a nod to the year that Washington College was founded, courtesy of a donation of 50 guineas by George Washington himself.
1782 Society-level gifts may be directed to the Washington Fund, an annual revenue source that enables the College to support scholarships and other areas of greatest need, or to the designation of your choice.
Gifts may be made outright, by installment, by transfer of stock, or by credit card online. To send a check by mail, please complete this form. Memberships are active for one year and will renew with your next gift at the 1782 level.

If this is your first time accessing the fitness facilities as a 1782 Society member, please contact Jenny Houghton at jhoughton2FREEwashcoll or 410-778-7805 to receive an ID number. After that, you will be able to obtain your card at the Office of Public Safety, located on the lower level of Cullen Hall. (A campus map is available on the About page).
The office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday-Friday with a break for lunch from noon to 1 p.m. Calling the office beforehand to ensure that someone will be there when you arrive is recommended; the number is 410-778-7810.
Your fitness fee is good for one year starting on the day your card is issued/reactivated and can be renewed with your 1782 membership.
What does my Fitness Fee give me access to?
Your fitness fee gives you and any family members who reside at your address access to the Casey Swim Center, the Johnson Fitness Center, and the Schottland Tennis Center. For more information and operating hours, visit washcollsports.com/facilities.
Please be advised that children aged 13-15 are permitted to use the athletic facilities only if supervised by a parent or guardian; children under the age of 13 are not permitted. Access to the Swim Center is available for children under the age of 12 with parent or guardian supervision.
Your permit is valid for 12 months and can be renewed after that. Because the College's first priority is to serve its students, the availability of each facility will vary seasonally with team use. When the College is not in session, there will be abbreviated hours for these facilities, and they may be closed for holidays throughout the year. Additional fitness facility questions may be directed to Director of Sports Performance Brie Johnson at bjohnson22FREEwashcoll.
