Major: Business Management, Specialization in Accounting and Finance
    Minor: Anthropology and Music

At the end of my senior year of college, I began working as an accountant at Schell Brothers LLC, a residential construction company headquartered in southern Delaware, where I still work today. In my position, I manage the accounting for our solar company, Clean Energy USA, and aid in parts of the Schell Brothers accounting as well. I love my job because I get to be involved in every aspect of the accounting process and I get to do it in a company with an amazing culture and desire to give back to the community.

    Favorite Professors

Professor Williams in the business department inspired me to go into accounting and prepared me well for my career. Outside of the business department, I discovered my interest in archaeology after taking a class with Dr. Markin. Her engaging classes led me to add a minor in Anthropology.

    Fondest WC Memory

I loved the short term study abroad programs and was able to take advantage of two (Cuba and the Southwest US) during my time at Washington College. Both of those trips, and the people I met while on the trips, had a huge impact on me.

Let’s Hear It for the Liberal Arts

The accounting classes prepared me well for my job. I learned all the basic concepts in those classes, which I now use on a daily basis. The classes in other departments helped me become more adaptable and able to approach problems from different angles.

    Advice

Take classes outside of your comfort zone. You may discover new passions and subjects that you had no clue you would be interested in. If given the chance, also try to take advantage of the study abroad programs.
