Academic Support
Washington College’s curriculum is academically rigorous. We challenge our students to engage with difficult topics, think critically, and communicate their thoughts and opinions during class discussion, through written assignments, and during presentations.
To set our students up for success, and to give them an extra boost when they need it, there are academic supports across disciplines to help our students succeed with every facet of their academic journey. From peer tutoring on specific subjects to seminars that develop learning strategies and academic skills broadly, from research specialists in the library to writing consultants that help you on any step of the writing process, the web of academic support extends far beyond your professors and widely outside the classroom.

Office of Academic Skills
Take advantage of tutoring services and seminars for to learn and further develop learning strategies and academic skills, including discipline-specific study tools, organization for time management, test-taking tips, cultivating reaching skills for comprehension and retention, and more. Subject-specific tutors are also available. Accessibility accommodations through Disability Services can be requested at any time through the office.
Writing Center
Get help with any writing assignment (including presentations) for any class at any stage in the writing process. Experienced student writers from a variety of majors are trained to help you anywhere in the writing process, from idea generation to outlines to drafting to editing. Read and discuss the project and your ideas, gain a clearer sense of where to take your assignment, and develop strategies to get you there.
Quantitative Skills Center
Pursue dedicated course tutoring for classes with a quantitative component (math, computer science, business, physics, economics, chemistry, psychology, and more) is available throughout the year. Drop in to meet with trained QSC tutors to discuss problems and concepts, check your work, do homework, ask questions, and more. Or schedule a one-on-one appointment with a trained tutors to help with specific course needs.
