Who can join EMYO?

Any high school student (grades 9-12) who plays any orchestral instrument may join the ensemble. Students who are not in high school may join upon submission of teacher recommendation or live/recorded audition. If you play another instrument and would like to join, please contact us. We will be expanding very soon!

When are rehearsals?

The EMYO will rehearse on Saturday mornings from 9:00 AM until 11:30 AM in the Hotchkiss Recital Hall. This is located in the Gibson Center for the Arts on the campus of Washington College.

Where are rehearsals?

All rehearsals will take place in the Gibson Center for the Arts on the campus of Washington College. The majority of rehearsals will be held on the stage of Hotchkiss Recital Hall. Certain rehearsals and/or sectionals may take place in other rooms within Gibson as needed.

What is the cost?

The fee to join will be $150 for each semester. This fee covers rehearsal space, music, chamber music coachings with professional musicians, and at least one concert - all for about $10 a week! See our registration page for more information.

How do I join?

Joining is very simple. You may register online or via mail-in registration form. All of this information can be found at our registration page. If you have any difficulties or further questions regarding registration, please contact us.

Who makes this possible?

The Eastern Maryland Youth Orchestra is a component of the Washington College Concert Series. As part of their educational outreach program, the Concert Series supplies funding support for the EMYO. Other funding comes from local businesses and individual donations. If you would like to make a donation to the EMYO, please contact us for more information.
