Kit Yim '27

    Permaculture Intern

    Majors: Biology / Biochem

Through the New Mexican landscape their grandparents lived in, Kit first learned to appreciate nature through their grandmother’s lush garden that deeply contrasted the dirt country roads of the rural town.

In middle school, Kit learned about sustainability for the first time and used that as a basis for their "environmental awakening." Throughout high school, they focused their free time on ecology and sustainable agricultural practices, culminating in a research program that they would use as the backbone for a future final paper at Washington College about using artificial intelligence to make sustainable agriculture more accessible.

Kit still strives to spread awareness about sustainability by working with the compost and garden club. Besides class, Kit is a coxswain at the boat house with the men’s rowing team. Rowing, which they started in high school, gave them a newfound appreciation for the various ecosystems in rivers.
