Tuition Commitment
The Washington College Tuition Commitment is our way of saying we believe college should be within reach for everyone. That’s why we ensure that financial barriers won’t stop you from succeeding. While 100% of full-time first-year students receive some form of scholarship and financial aid, if you’re a Maryland resident with a family income under $75,000, we guarantee your full tuition will be covered.
Requirements:
- Must be a resident of Maryland
- First time undergraduate student
- Must apply for admission by February 15
- FAFSA must be completed by March 1
- Enroll full time (12+ credits) in fall and spring semesters
- Have a total family income of $75,000 or less, as determined by the FAFSA
Renewal:
- Maintain MD residency
- 2.5 cumulative GPA
- Enrolled full-time (12+ credits) per semester (Fall/Spring)
- Have a total family income of $75,000 or less, as determined by the FAFSA.
- Maintain satisfactory academic progress.

Who is eligible for the Washington College Tuition Commitment?
Admitted first-year freshmen Maryland residency whose families have an adjusted gross
income (AGI) of $75,000 or less according to their prior-prior year federal income

Adjusted gross income can be found on line 11 of your federal tax return.
Is my income included in the $75,000 total?
Yes, the student's adjusted gross income is included in the $75,000 total family income.
What if I also qualified for a different full tuition award? Can I get both?
No, students may only receive one full tuition award. The Washington College Tuition
Commitment does not replace Dependent Tuition Waiver, Tuition Exchange or Presidential
Signature Scholarship.
If I am a recipient of the Maryland Guaranteed Access Grant, can I still receive this award?
No, students receiving the Guaranteed Access Grant have tuition, fees, housing and
food covered by Washington College.
Are current Washington College students eligible for the Washington College Tuition Commitment?
No, this is available only to incoming students.
Are fees or housing and food covered with the Washington College Tuition Commitment?
No, only tuition is covered.
What if my residency changes?
You must maintain Maryland residency to continue receiving the Washington College
Tuition Commitment.
Can I combine the Washington College Tuition Commitment with other scholarships like honors fellowships?
Washington College Tuition Commitment is a last dollar award. We will include any
other institutional, state and federal gift aid you received, and the funds for this
award will cover the remaining amount of tuition.
