    Department of Theatre & Dance

    Art for All

Whatever your interests, there is something for you in the Department of Theatre & Dance. Courses in dramatic literature & history, acting, directing, dramaturgy, design, stagecraft, choreography, movement, and management provide a broad base of knowledge across the theatre and dance fields. Departmental productions and workshops offer hands-on learning experiences in all areas, from performance to production. And everything is open to everyone—regardless of age, experience, or major.

    Courses & Productions

    Playing With Others

The Department of Theatre & Dance embraces the principles of a liberal arts education by emphasizing interdisciplinarity, collaboration, and experiential learning in both our coursework and production activities. Our students routinely double major and minor, pairing Theatre & Dance with disciplines from English to Environmental Studies, and with interdisciplinary minors like Arts Management & Entrepreneurship.

    Step Into Your Own Spotlight

Students from across campus find opportunities here for leadership and collaboration. In Theatre & Dance, you can run a student arts organization, produce your own show, and even even work for the department as a shop assistant, house manager, social media ambassador, or in another professional position.

    Student Leadership

    Professional Training,
    Accessible Instruction

Guest artists, field trips, and grant opportunities help students prepare for professional careers both within and beyond the arts. In addition to providing 1-on-1 mentorship, our working professional faculty bring their professional connections to campus, and bring students out into the field. By the time they graduate, most Theatre & Dance students have worked side-by-side with a guest artist, attended a national conference, or completed a professional internship in the arts.
