Ghosts of Holidays Past

A look at past celebrations of the Holidays at Washington College.
The Winter Holidays are always a time for students to go home and spend time with
their families, but Washington College has always tried to keep the season festive.
There have been stories, balls, choir concerts, and even a Renaissance Christmas.

It wasn’t until the 1970s that other holidays like Hanukkah became recognized and
began to share in the festivities. Today, the Hillel House, the GlobalEducation Office,
and all the student-led clubs provide an opportunity to share different foods, traditions,
and stories of celebration and togetherness, and that is what the Holidays are all
about. Finish those finals and enjoy the various holiday celebrations around campus
and Chestertown before heading home! We’ll see you in the New Year!
