Shawn Martin
Shawn Martin comes to Miller Library with many years of experience in scholarly communication, working to further scholarship and practice to create better mechanisms for funding, creating, and distributing academic research and teaching materials, at Dartmouth College, the University of Pennsylvania, and the University of Michigan. He has managed or consulted on projects across STEM, social science, and arts and humanities disciplines focused on strategic planning, learning design, fundraising, and IT development efforts. He holds a Ph.D. in information science and the history and philosophy of science and medicine from Indiana University, bachelor’s and master’s degrees in history from Ohio State University and the College of William and Mary, and a certificate in business from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. His scholarship has been published and presented both nationally and internationally on a wide variety of topics such as the history of nineteenth-century science, digital teaching methods, data archiving, and computational analysis for textual studies. Shawn enjoys working with the Washington College community to create better partnerships between the library and academic areas in an ever-changing information environment.
