Kelly Banyas brings years of experience teaching information literacy and supporting student research to her position as the Research & Instruction Librarian for Social Sciences. Kelly received BA degrees in History and Classical Civilization and a Certificate in Computer Science from Boston University. She later earned her MLIS from the University of Maryland, College Park, and her MS in Health Informatics from the University of Scranton. Her years as a student and librarian have made her an advocate for open practices within academia, such as open access publishing and creating Open Educational Resources (OER), to make higher education more accessible, affordable, and engaging. Her research and service focus on open resources and evaluating sources in increasingly complicated information networks.
