Research
There is nothing like holding a medieval manuscript, knowing that your hands are touching the same pages that someone else turned centuries ago. Art history gives you the chance to travel into the past, while also learning more about yourself and your community in the present.
My particular interest and expertise is in the art of Medieval and Early Modern Europe, but I also maintain an active interest in the art of the Islamic World and Modern and Contemporary art, which was my first love. In my classes, I strive to help students discover that by looking carefully and thoughtfully at any work of art, they can begin to ask questions and explore ideas that will help them toward a richer understanding of their world, and a deeper connection to the other people within it.
