Interested in learning steel drums? Join the community steel band!

The Department of Music and Steel Revolution are excited to announce the second season of the community steel band for Chestertown, MD. This new ensemble is open to anyone in the surrounding area who would like to learn to play steel drums! No experience is necessary! Current steel drummers are also welcome to join. 

Who can join?

Anyone! As long as you are interested in learning and dedication, you can play the steel drums. All materials will be provided (drums, music, mallets, etc). Current players who own their own drums are encouraged to bring them to practice!

Rehearsals

Rehearsals will take place on Thursdays from 5:00-6:30 p.m. Our first rehearsal will be on Thursday, June 1. All rehearsals will be held in Gibson Center for the Arts Room 116. The 2017 Rehearsal schedule can be found here.

Practice

If there is enough interest, all members of the band will be allowed access to the steel drums outside of regular rehearsals. Open practice times will be posted once we begin rehearsals.

Registration

Please follow the link to the left to register for the community steel band. A fee of $150 will be collected from all members once the registration form as been completed. Instructions for paying this fee will be given once the form as been submitted. Space is limited by the number of steel drums we have at the school, so register early!
