Gus the Goose
Say hello to Gus the Goose, Washington College’s beloved mascot! Inspired by the flocks of Canada Geese that are a familiar sight on the Eastern Shore, Gus has become a familiar face of his own around campus. Whether he’s cheering from the sidelines, making an appearance at a campus event, or getting into a little mischief, Gus is always part of the action. You’ll also see the goose featured in the logo used by Washington College Athletics, giving the goose a special place in Washington College tradition.

Around Campus
On special occasions you will see Gus traveling around campus, maybe distributing flowers or candy, visiting classrooms, study areas, and elsewhere.

Gus makes sure to greet all the potential members of the next year's class at Admitted Students Day every spring.

Gus loves to cheer on the Shoremen and Shorewomen, pump up the crowd on a dance floor, and generally keep the fun rolling.
Community Events
Mascots take their duty to entertain the kids seriously, while keeping it light, of course. Gus joins parades in Chestertown and other area events.
