Block Bio
Penny Block is an experienced educator. She grew up in Burlington, NJ, and received a BS from Douglass College (Rutgers University) and an MEd from Smith College. She and her husband and three children lived for 44 years at Northfield Mount Hermon School, a boarding school in western Massachusetts where Jim was on the faculty. Penny served on a dorm staff and founded the campus preschool. Her 42-year teaching career spanned all age levels from early childhood through high school at both public and private schools, including jobs in the UK and Turkey. She retired last June as supervising teacher at Smith College Campus School, the laboratory school for the Department of Education and Child Study at Smith. Penny is thrilled to be on the Eastern Shore with a longer gardening season, waterways to explore, great music and arts, and endless opportunities for volunteering and lifelong learning.
