Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid drug approved for use as an analgesic and
anesthetic but now in the news for its widespread misuse as a street drug. This talk
will cover the history of fentanyl, its chemistry and pharmacology, its use in medicine,
and the contemporary crisis of overdoses.
Ray Vergne is a retired cardiologist and frequent WC-ALL instructor whose interests also include the humanities and fine arts.
