With the fall semester fully underway I wanted to take some time to reflect on some of the good news from the past year and to speak to the positive position of the College going into this new academic year.
Less than a year ago, I was entrusted with the leadership of Washington College, one of the finest and most historic institutions of higher education. Serving as president is a unique privilege, and one that comes with a special set of responsibilities, challenges, and rewards.
The annual First Destination Survey results are in, once again revealing that the vast majority – in this case 92% - of Washington College’s recent graduates have positive career outcomes almost immediately upon graduation.
Washington College challenges and inspires emerging citizen leaders to discover lives of purpose and passion. These familiar words from our beloved college’s mission statement have taken on new meaning for me these past two weeks, as I have watched the terrible events in Ukraine unfold.
Washington College condemns the bomb threats made against Historically Black Colleges and Universities across the country on the first week of Black History Month. We stand in solidarity with these institutions, particularly the three in the state of Maryland--Bowie State, Coppin State, and Morgan State.
