Laura Johnson

Laura serves as the Chief Budget Officer for the College.  She is responsible for the financial model; budget office; grant accounting; accounts payable; procurement; and auxiliary services including the dining hall, central services, bookstore, and summer conferences.  She oversees the implementation of the College’s revenue, operating, salary, and capital budgets, and the College’s multi-year financial and capital plan.  She manages all matters related to resource allocation, financial planning, major purchases, and capital projects. She participates on the Benefits and Finance Committee, sits on the Washington Scholars Advisory Council, serves as an Adviser for the Washington College Veterans Association and is a student mentor.

Laura earned her MBA from Salisbury University’s Perdue School of Business in Salisbury, Maryland. Her undergraduate degree is from Wesley College in Dover, Delaware where she graduated Summa Cum Laude and was student representative. She is also a member of Alpha Chi.

Before joining the College in 2014, Laura held a 26-year corporate career with the DuPont Company in Wilmington, DE serving as the Sr. Global Financial Analyst. She was DuPont’s MBA Finance Mentor of the Year in 2001 and is currently Six Sigma certified. She was the past Treasurer on the board at Stine-Haskell Federal Credit Union in Newark, Delaware.  She was the founder of the Troop package project for the College and continues to manage the donations and distribution of the project annually.  She is active in the community, has taught Character Counts in Queen Anne’s County for over 9 years, was a member of the American Red Cross and currently sits on the Queen Anne’s County Property Tax Assessment Appeals Board.
