The Society is located in the Mt. Vernon area of Baltimore, the heart of the historic area. In Mt. Vernon, you will also find many area art galleries (e.g. The Walters Gallery of Art), wonderful restaurants, historic churches, antique galleries, and shops.
The Maryland Historical Society houses the largest collection of Americana in the world. Here, you will find everything from Peale portraits of revolutionary War leaders to exhibits of Baltimore wedding quilts and children’s toys. We will spend the early part of the day in docent-led tours of your choice of several exhibits. And there will also be time to explore many additional exhibits on your own.

DIVIDED VOICES: Maryland in the Civil War
MARYLAND STORIES: The Old Line State from Native Americans to the Star-Spangled Banner and Beyond

At the conclusion of the docent tours, you may opt to stay longer at the MHS or walk two blocks to the Walters Gallery of Art, the Contemporary Gallery of Art, or wander the historic area at your leisure. Lunch will be on your own at one of the many wonderful restaurants within easy walking distance of the Historical Society (no more than four blocks). A list of suggested restaurants and maps will be provided.
Bus leaves at 8:30 AM in front of the movie theatre in the Fresh & Green parking lot, returning by 4:00 PM.

Longwood Gardens, Kennett Square, PA
$35 includes your ticket and bus fare. Dinner is on your own.
