Fall 2017 trips:
Thursday, November 9: day trip to the new Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad National Historical Park, with lunch at Old Salty’s, a local favorite. The bus tour along the Underground Railroad Byway will be hosted by a personal guide, who will share information about Ms. Tubman’s life and rescues in the passing Eastern Shore landscape. Other highlights will be stops at the Bucktown Village Store and Harriet Tubman Museum in Cambridge. REGISTRATION DEADLINE: OCTOBER 25.
Thursday, December 7: holiday-themed day trip to the Hillwood Estate, Museum, and Gardens in Washington DC. Hillwood is the former estate of cereal heiress Marjorie Merriweather Post. Journey through her home, including a spectacular formal dining room, two libraries, and elegant entry and drawing room that feature decor from 18th century Imperial Russia and France. The special exhibit, Spectacular Gems and Jewelry, features over 50 pieces belonging to Post, assembled for your viewing pleasure. Lunch is included at the Hillwood Cafe. REGISTRATION DEADLINE: NOVEMBER 21.
