Filmmaking and Promotional Video Production
In today’s age, nearly every organization can improve communications to their members through use of multimedia. Digital Media Services provides the service of producing short films or promotional videos for many of the college’s departments.
How is our Event Video Production different than the service of producing these short films and promo videos? The simplest way is to look at how they are made. Event videos are a documentation of something that has happened, pretty much as it unfolded. Other than adding some lower thirds (names & titles), and introductory titles, there is not much in the way of editing these productions. Yes, there may have been multiple cameras used in the production, and digital editing is used to find the best best angle at a given time. But, the message told by the video should be identical to that on the day of the event.
A filmmaker’s approach to producing a video is different. We might shoot interviews, pull in footage from events, record voiceover audio, blend in photos, and create motion graphics. Then we reorganize all the content and trim it down to convey the desired message in a succinct format.
