Born and raised in Gaithersburg, Maryland, on the western shore, I am delighted to now work in Chestertown—an eastern shore treasure. Joining the Washington College community, I feel as though I’m part of a close-knit family. That feeling pervades this charming town. Our campus is located next to the Chester River, which offers countless academic and recreational opportunities for our students. I have always sought out the water; I lived on an island in the East China Sea for two years! For these reasons and more, Washington College is my happy place.
It speaks volumes that one of the five pillars of the Washington College Standard is “learning without limits.” Classroom learning, as this school practices, is only part of the full educational experience. As someone who has worked in experiential education myself, I firmly believe that this is what sets us apart from other schools. Our 3 signature centers—the Rose O’Neill Literary House, the Center for Environment and Society, and the Starr Center for the Study of the American Experience—all offer diverse programming and events open to all students, regardless of their majors. Washington College students have a vast amount of hands-on job training opportunities, and every student graduates having completed a senior capstone project that will set them apart in the future when competing for jobs. I hope that you’ll come visit our campus and see for yourself everything that Washington College has to offer. Please reach out if there is anything I can help you with as you go through your college application process. I’m here to help!
