Scott Cowdrey

Chief Information Officer

Scott Cowdrey is keeping pace with IT advances.

With a strong background in technology and computer science, Scott Cowdrey has spent more than 25 years leading IT services divisions in higher education. He came to Washington College in 2015 from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota, where he was Chief Information Officer. Under his leadership, the OIT team has been instrumental in making valuable improvements in the College’s Internet and Wi-Fi data systems, modernizing core server operations, implementing key software applications across several departments, establishing a cybersecurity assessment and awareness training program, and laying the foundation to expand opportunities in business intelligence and analytics.

Previous posts include Vice President & CIO at Colorado Mountain College, Senior Consultant for Strategic Planning at Sungard Higher Education Services in Florida, Associate Vice Chancellor for Information Technology at University of North Carolina, Wilmington, and CIO at Bryn Mawr College In Philadelphia.  Early in his career Cowdrey was a principal in a digital graphics business that focused on providing custom print graphics and animation for the legal and entertainment industry in the Los Angeles area.

He earned a bachelor of science degree from California State University, where he majored in environmental biology and psychology, and then pursued a master’s degree in computer science with a minor in industrial and management engineering at Montana State University.
