Geographic Information Systems

Katie Walker

Class of 2017


Katie is an Environmental Studies major with minors in Anthropology and Earth/Planetary Sciences and a concentration in Chesapeake Regional Studies. She went to Laurel High School where she was enrolled in the International Baccalaureate program, earning the IB Diploma. She is a life-time member of the Girl Scouts of America and a recipient of the Girl Scout Gold Award, for which she worked with Laurel Elementary School staff and students doing environmental education.  She has worked on the Eastern Shore Harvest Directory project, participating in outreach to local agribusinesses in order to expand an accessible database of local products for consumers. She then designed a brochure layout of the directory for printing. She has also researched and created energy profiles of the fifty states for Terra Verde Capital Partners. She planned and facilitated two conferences with the Federal Laboratory Consortium for Technology Transfer about developing research on the Eastern Shore.
