Laura Johnson

Budget Director

Laura is the Budget Director for the College. 

She serves as the chief budget officer of the College by developing and overseeing all aspects of the implementation of the College’s operating, salary, and capital budgets, and the College’s multi-year financial and capital plan.  She is the main liaison between both the Provost’s Office and the Office of Finance and the academic and administrative departments for matters related to resource allocation, financial planning, and approval of actions related to employees, major purchases, and capital projects. She serves on the Finance and Benefits Committee, the Planning Committee, the Donor Relations & Stewardship Committee, and as an adviser for the Washington College Veterans Association and student mentor.

Laura earned her MBA from Salisbury University’s Perdue School of Business in Salisbury, Maryland. Her undergraduate degree is from Wesley College in Dover, Delaware where she graduated Summa Cum Laude and was student representative. She is also a member of Alpha Chi.

Before joining the Provost & Dean’s Office, Laura held a 26-year corporate career with the DuPont Company in Wilmington, DE serving as the Sr. Global Financial Analyst. She was DuPont’s MBA Finance Mentor of the Year in 2001 and is currently Six Sigma certified. She was the past Treasurer on the board at Stine-Haskell Federal Credit Union in Newark, Delaware. She is active in the community, has taught Character Counts in Queen Anne’s County for over 9 years, and is a member of the American Red Cross.
