Taylor Fields

Class of 2017
Major/Minor: Music Major, with Minors in Business and Creative Writing

My musical style is an amalgamation of a wide array of genres. From Hip-Hop and Jazz to Folk tunes and Soul Music, I am excited to create/perform any type of music that makes you feel or makes you move. Being involved with the department of Music has afforded me the opportunity to take lessons on 6 different instruments, study in Cuba, and to have unlimited access to recording materials and knowledge, I express my sincerest gratitude to the Faculty of the department for all of this.

Music Technology

Through both taking, and teaching Music Technology courses at WAC, I learned how to; mix, master, and record songs in order to upload video with high quality audio to my youtube channel.

International Learning

My concentration within the study of music, is percussion. As a percussionist I play set drums, as well as a wide range of hand drums with the Afro-Cuban Ensemble. I have taken lessons on the cuban religious drum “bata” for 2 years, and was able to study this drum and cuban culture as a whole, while living in Havana during the “Cuban Experience” winter course.

While in Cuba my passion for photography was re-invigorated by the vibrant color and people on the streets outside the home where I was living. I compiled my photos, experiences, and story telling to create a visual/aural documentary of my time there.
