Q&A

Hometown: New Taipei City, Taiwan

What is your favorite spot on campus?

My favorite camping spot on campus in the science center. Less people study there in the night, so I usually do not get interrupted by friends while studying. It also has big whiteboards for students on all floors. They come quite handy if you prefer solving problems on the board. Just remember bring your own marker because they don’t have markers in science center.

What has been your favorite tradition/ memory at WAC?

I will say homecoming party over any events at WAC. For me, homecoming party was the 1st big event when I was a freshman. I came from a small high school, so our homecoming party wasn’t big compare to WAC’s. It’s also my 1st time my parents didn’t say anything about dating a girl (laugh), so that was pretty special to me in my college years.

What are you doing over the summer?

This summer I am taking summer classes at Boston University. The classes I am taking are Differential Equations and Probability, and both classes end in 8/11. It also means I have intensive workload than conventional semester. I know it is quite a challenge, but I know everything will be great in the end.

What is your favorite Chestertown hangout spot?

I will say downtown Chestertown. It has public library with faster and more stable wifi, and no many people visit during midterm and final weeks. Definitely a go-to if you are looking for a quiet place to study, but do not want to run into friends.

Downtown also has coffee shops such as Evergrain and Play it again Sam. I really recommend to try their croissant and latte at Evergrain. Evergrain has the best coffee in C-town, but the price is also more expensive than the others; Play it again Sam (Yeah, that’s the name of the store) has decent quality for their sandwich. Both coffee shops are great for going as a group or going solo.

What’s your favorite quote?

My favorite quote is a famous statement from pastor Martin Niemoller, and this is how is goes:

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.
