Thomas Crouse, Jr. ’59
Mr. Crouse was the Founder, Chairman, and CEO of CIG International LLC, in Washington, DC, until its sale in 2004.
CIG International provided equity financing for residential land development, homebuilding enterprises and venture capital for early stage corporations. After graduating from Washington College, Mr. Crouse earned an MBA from Columbia University in 1961. He is an Executive Committee member of the Walpole International Affairs Group and founding member of the River Valley at Home, an age assistance organization.
Previous career positions included 15 years with Citibank; 10 years of which were spent in Japan, Hong Kong, and Indonesia. After Citibank, he was Senior Vice President for Crocker National Bank of San Francisco. He also maintained a close, active involvement with the Hay Adams, a luxury hotel in Washington, DC from 1989 - 2011.
Mr. Crouse was the first chairperson of the Visiting Committee of Washington College and was co-chairperson of The Class of 1959 40th and 50th Reunions, which raised significant funds for the renovation of Norman James Theater in 1999 and the Livingood Terrace in 2009. He is also a member of The Asia Society of New York, The Japan Society of New York, and the Denton United Methodist Church.
Mr. Crouse was elected to the Board of Visitors and Governors by the Alumni Council in December 2003 to fill a vacated alumni-elected seat. He and his wife, Kay Enokido, reside in Walpole, NH. They have a daughter, Alissa and a son, Kai. Mr. Crouse also has a son, Douglass, from a previous marriage. His father, sister and several aunts and uncles were also graduates of Washington College.
