Billie Ricketts

Class of 2013
Major/Minor: Biology

The March prior to her graduation in 2013, Billie was accepted to Teach for America, DC corps.

In August of that same year, she began her teaching career at Ernest Just Middle School in Prince George’s County, where she worked as a 7th grade science teacher and loved it.

In the spring of 2014, she entered the masters program at Johns Hopkins University with the help of her Americorp fund. She will graduate in the spring of 2015 with a Masters of Science in Education and a concentration in administrative leadership.

Billie has just recently started her second year of teaching as the new science department chair, PBIS coordinator, and SGA adviser. In addition, she now teaches “Gateway to Technology” to 7th and 8th grade students. She plans to stay in Prince George’s County and apply to the Emerging Leaders program, which will help her advance to an administrative position in the school, after her second year.

With the love and support of her biology and chemistry professors, Billie is thrilled to be able to share her passion for science with a new generation of aspiring scientists.
