Campus Involvement

Sophie Turshen is a Senior and second year intern for the OSA. In the time spent at WC she has constantly looking for new ways to get involved. As a senior she has continued for a second year with the Leadership Internship focusing on helping other students in leadership development as well as remaining a resource for any students or organizations that seek help. She has started the Leadership Committee this year which meets twice a month to do leadership development programming.

Sophie is an Anthropology major with a focus in Gender studies. She is also a music minor as well as a music enthusiast as she plays violin, viola, piano and sings. She is very involved with the music department but wishes to further her experience within the year.

Sophie is also very involved with the WC Hillel, the Jewish organization on campus. This year the Hillel plans to go far holding several events that will give more insight into Judaism and have a good time as well.

On top of what she has accomplished in the past Sophie has also taken over as co-president of Safe Ride. Safe Ride is a student run organization that provides safe transportation for students who need a ride. This program has made a huge impact to not only the WC students but to the Chestertown community as well. She has been involved with this program as a freshman in Safe Ride’s second year. So far she has helped make progress in making it more accessible as well as constantly finding ways to improve the program.

“Everyday is an adventure, and I only hope to make the most of it!” ~Sophie
