The 1987 Sophie Kerr Winner

After earning her master’s in journalism at Columbia University in 1988, with a concentration in magazine journalism, Sue De Pasquale went on to work in publishing at Johns Hopkins University. She served as editor of Johns Hopkins Magazine from 1994 through 2006, during which time the magazine won numerous gold medals for excellence in writing from CASE (Council for Advancement and Support of Education) and was honored as the Sibley Magazine of the Year in 1998.

In spring 2006, she left Hopkins to launch her own editorial consulting business, specializing in launching new magazines and re-thinking existing ones, primarily for colleges/universities and non-profits. She is currently involved in editing and/or consulting for about a dozen magazines, including Hopkins Medicine Magazine (which won top honors among medical school magazines from AAMC in 2010) and University of Maryland School of Law Magazine.
