Al Scarborough

After 5 years with the Peace Corps in Africa and the Carribbean I was associated with the Center for Creative Leadership from 1970-78. Took off a couple of years to go sailing with my wife and two young daughters. Since 1980 we have lived on Ocracoke Island, been self employed as owners at different times of a restaurant, bed and breakfast, bicycle rental, and a ice cream store. Retired in 1992, continue to enjoy gardening, bridge, poker, and sailing. Over the years I enjoyed picking up my backpack, getting a Lonely Planet guide book and heading off to new places or sailing with friends and family to Bermuda, Galapagos, Bahamas, and the Caribbean islands. Memories:Late night trips to Lombardo’s for sub sandwich and the Tavern for a beer, playing bridge all day in the snack bar, a grilled sticky bun from Mrs. D.
