Bill Caldwell

Class of 1960
Major/Minor: Mathematics

After completing my doctorate on mathematics in 1967, I joined the faculty at the University of South Carolina and became Assistant Head of the mathematics department there before leaving in 1973 to become Chairman of the Department of Mathematical Sciences (mathematics, computer science, and statistics) at the newly-opened University of North Florida (UNF) in Jacksonville Florida. I retired from UNF in 2007 and am now Professor Emeritus. My wife Della and I enjoy traveling, golf, family and friends. She will retire this year (she is a secondary school mathematics teacher) and we will spend more time pursuing our mutual interests. We each have two grown children from our first marriages, and collectively have 8 grandchildren.
