Thomas Maddux P’78
Retired Chairman and CEO of American Stone-Mix, a Towson manufacturing company, “Tuck” Maddux is the father of Jenny Maddux Washburn, a 1978 graduate of Washington College.
American Stone-Mix was formerly the packaged materials division of Genstar Stone Products Company. A private corporation, American Stone-Mix holds exclusive marketing rights to Sakrete brand cement products in 21 states and operates 15 manufacturing facilities.
Mr. Maddux serves on the Board and the Finance Committee of the Greater Baltimore Medical Center and on the Board of Schenuit Investments, Inc. He was appointed by Maryland Governor Harry Hughes to serve as Secretary of the Department of Economic and Community Development (1985-1987). He served as a member of the Federal Reserve Board (Baltimore Branch) from 1982-1985, and as Member (1977-1985) and Chair (1982-1985) of the Maryland State Board for Higher Education. From 1975-1984 he served as Executive Vice President and COO of EASCO Corporation, a $500 million Baltimore-based manufacturing company. He was associated with Black & Decker Corporation in a variety of administrative and executive positions from 1951-1975.
Mr. Maddux is a graduate of the Virginia Episcopal School and received a B.S. in Commerce from the University of Virginia. He resides in Baltimore, MD, and The Village of Golf, FL. He has three children: daughter, Jenny Maddux Washburne WC ’78, is a graduate of Garrison Forest; son Thomas H. Maddux, a principal at KLNB, Inc., a Baltimore real estate development company, is married to the former Jean Merrick WC ’82, daughter of the late Robert Merrick of the France-Merrick Foundation; and daughter Holly.
He is a member of the Elkridge Club, the Maryland Club, and the Country Club of Florida.
