Dr. Ayers joins the faculty of Washington College this year as a VAP. She is a clinical psychologist in private practice in the Baltimore area and a former Associate Professor of Psychology at Towson University, where she developed an integrated departmental honors program and directed the clinical track of that program.  Additionally, she was co-director of the Mind Body Psychology Lab and conducted research in several areas of the mind-body connection, including food/mood interactions, modifiers of the stress response, and motivators to successful breastfeeding.

Dr. Ayers departed Towson University in 2008 to pursue additional training in medicine and became a certified physician assistant in 2010.  After four years of practice in rural family medicine, she transitioned to the practice of women’s health, and area of medicine about which she feels significant passion.

A yoga enthusiast and a former marathoner, Dr. Ayers keeps active with these pursuits, as well as the newly discovered pursuit of sailing the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries.
