Lecture/Discussion

You have made your best effort to take a picture worthy of hanging in a gallery, but more has yet to be done to assure your photo’s excellence and for it to stand out among its peers. An image’s attractiveness can well be improved by color correction, adjusting poor image lighting, increasing or decreasing contrast, cropping to professional standards and hiding or removing unwanted details. We will use Adobe Lightroom’s develop module in class to explore how to modify all of these attributes and more. Most all of the buttons and dials we will be using work similarly in the other popular photo editing programs so you don’t need to own Lightroom to get a lot out of this course. I have also created many short videos demonstrating each of these attributes in detail and will supply them to students so that they can reinforce what they learn in class later when they practice at home. Students may send in their own images to be edited and will get a chance to do some live editing in class themselves if they so wish. This course works well for beginning and intermediate photographers who are comfortable working with images in a computer.
