How has your liberal arts education influenced you? How do you apply your LAE in your current career?
The small classes and the personal connections that I was able to have with my Professors only helped me to develop the abilities that I now use every day in my career. Being able to spend hours in the offices of my Professors to get a one on one in-depth conversation of certain topics, such as research methods or GIS, has definitely paid off.
Who was your favorite faculty/staff member? Story?
It would have to be a tie between Stewart Bruce, the Professor who got me into GIS, and Nikole Hotchkiss, who was my Senior Thesis advisor. Both of them are arguably the biggest reasons I got to where I am today and was able to get a career in the field that I worked all throughout college to get to.
What is your favorite Washington College memory?
Did your Senior Capstone Experience have a major influence on your future career or your personal growth? If so, please explain what your SCE entailed and how it influenced who or where you are today.
My senior capstone was influenced by my internship with the Montgomery County Police Department as well as the project I worked on at the GIS Lab. My SCE was a data analysis on DUI offender demographics in relation to property and violent crime offenders.
