Tyanna Baker

Class of 2019
Major/Minor: Economics and Political Science double major, Spanish minor

Hometown/High School? Anchorage, Alaska - South Anchorage High School

What is your favorite place/activity on campus? I’m going to sound like a nerd, but I love the library. It’s a great place to get homework done because there is a lot of energy to keep you awake even after a few hours of reading. Also Sophie’s Cafe, because coffee.

Recommended class and professor? Politics of Development with Professor Wade, for sure. It’s a demanding class, but I learned so much about a field of study that I am considering making a career.

What are some of your favorite hobbies? I love reading fiction novels and writing short stories. I’m currently working on a novel and a musical production. I also love waterskiing and cooking.

Why did you choose to attend Washington College? Because of the passion that I saw in the political science and economics departments. There is so much enthusiasm from all the faculty members, and they really want everyone to succeed.
