Author and poet Meg Kearney visits the Lit House April 8 as part of the series Writing for (and about) Young Adults.

CHESTERTOWN, MD—The Rose O’Neill Literary House will welcome author and poet Meg Kearney on Tuesday, April 8, at 5:30 p.m. as part of the series Writing for (and about) Young Adults. 

Kearney won the 2010 PEN New England L.L. Winship Award for her most recent collection of poems for adults, Home By Now (Four Way Books, 2009). Her first collection, An Unkindness of Ravens, was published in 2001. She has also published two novels in verse for teens—The Secret of Me (2005) and its sequel, The Girl in the Mirror (2012). Her first picture book, Trouper (The Three Legged Dog), went to print in November 2013 and was named one of the best books of the year by the International Reading Association and the Christian Science Monitor.

Kearney, founding director of the Solstice MFA in Creative Writing Program at Pine Manor College in Chestnut Hill, Mass., worked 11 years as Associate Director of the National Book Foundation in New York City. Her poetry has been featured on Garrison Keillor’s “A Writer’s Almanac” and published in myriad literary magazines and anthologies.
