Three of the Green
The Irish trio Open the Door for Three is next up in Washington College’s Premiere Artist Series, performing on April 21 in Decker Theatre.
If you love the whimsy, history, and galaxy of emotions that are embedded in Irish music, you won’t want to miss Washington College’s Premiere Artist concert on April 21, when the trio Open the Door for Three perform in Decker Theatre of the Gibson Center of the Arts. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m.
Open the Door for Three is comprised of three veteran Irish music performers: Liz Knowles on fiddle, Kieran O’ Hare on uilleann pipes, whistles, and the flute, and Pat Broaders playing bouzouki and providing the group’s vocals. Unearthing old tunes, reimagining traditional favorites, and creating homages to their musical influences with entirely new renditions of their music, the group has performed around the world both together and individually, from Broadway and the Kennedy Center to the Malaysian rainforest. They have also performed with artists including Don Henley, Josh Groban, Riverdance, and Secret Garden.
The group’s first self-titled album was released in 2013; its second album The Penny Wager was released in 2015.
Adult tickets are $20, and tickets for (non-WC) students as well as WC faculty and staff or adults over 65 are $15. WC students and children 18 and under are free.
