Rowing Season Recap
Women’s Rowing: The Shorewomen captured their fifth straight MARC Championship, giving them yet another birth to the NCAA Division III Championship on May 26th and 27th.
In the MARC Championship, all three varsity eights came in first place. With the positive performances all season, senior Maddie Morrissette and junior Jules Shipps were named to the All-MARC Varsity Team. Freshman Olivia Robb was named to the All-MARC Novice Team. First-year head coach Kari Hughes was named as the MARC Women’s Coach of the Year.
“It took months of hard and demanding work from every athlete to earn a berth at the NCAA Championship. We challenged the team in the fall to learn how to row and race small boats - and how to scull (two oars) in addition to the usual sweep (one oar) rowing,” Hughes said. “After finals, we will continue to train on the water and in the weight room - with the singular focus of achieving the goal the team set this fall - to earn the program’s first NCAA medal.”
Men’s Rowing: WC finished off their season with a third-place finish in the petite final of the varsity eight at the MARC Championships.
Senior Daniel Benton and junior Chris Eggstein were placed to the all-MARC Varsity Team. Freshman Brook Yimer was chosen as part of the All-MARC Novice Team. Meanwhile sophomores Alex Kincaid and Nate Bonsib were named to the MARC Academic All-Conference Team.
