Starr Center’s Goodheart lends his expertise to a three-part series on the Civil War now airing on the Smithsonian Channel.

CHESTERTOWN, MD—C.V. Starr Center Director and New York Times bestselling author Adam Goodheart is a featured expert in “Civil War 360,” a three-part miniseries on the Smithsonian Channel. Commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, the miniseries uses artifacts from the Smithsonian collections to examine the War from three separate perspectives: Union, Confederate, and African-American. Celebrity hosts Ashley Judd, Trace Adkins, and Dennis Haysbert lead the episodes, with each examining the war from the historical perspective of his or her  ancestors.

Goodheart, author of 1861: The Civil War Awakening, was interviewed for each of the three episodes. In addition, the miniseries featured several dramatic recreations of stories from his book.

The series recently premiered on the Smithsonian Channel. Individual episodes are scattered across the schedule through December, but you can catch all three episodes, in order, from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, November 23 and twice again December 28, from 8 to 11 p.m. and from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m.  The full schedule can be found on the Smithsonian Channel website. “Civil War 360” also is available for $1.99-2.99 per episode on Amazon Instant Video.

One of Washington College’s signature centers, the C.V. Starr Center for the Study of the American Experience fosters the art of written history and explores our nation’s past—particularly the legacy of its Founding era—in innovative ways, through educational programs, scholarship and public outreach.
