In a bit of last-minute schedule juggling, the accomplished young quintet added a Washington College stop to its schedule.

CHESTERTOWN, MD—The Pentagon Winds woodwind quintet will perform a free, public concert on Friday, April 12, at Washington College. The concert takes place at noon in Hotchkiss Recital Hall, inside the Gibson Center for the Arts.

The five musicians are also affiliated with the United States Army Field Band. They perform in colleges and universities throughout the nation, present master classes and offer coaching in ensemble playing techniques.

The program will consist mostly of pieces by 20th-century composers: Quintet in B-flat Major, op. 56 No. 1 by Franz Danzi (1763-1826); Dos Tropicos! by Mathieu Lussier (b. 1973); Quintet, op. 24 No 2 (Kleine Kammermusik) 1923 by Paul Hindemith (1895-1963); Humoreske (Rondo) by Alexander Zemlinsky (1871-1942); Pastoral, op. 21 by Vincent Persichetti (1915-1987); and “La Nouvelle Orleans” (1987) by Lalo Schifrin (b. 1932).
