The Kent Chamber Music Series will present the early-music ensemble on March 22 in Hotchkiss Recital Hall.

CHESTERTOWN, MD—The seven accomplished musicians of the Peabody Consort will perform on rare and authentic period instruments when they appear in Hotchkiss Recital Hall on March 22, at 7 p.m. as part of the Kent Chamber Music series.

The ensemble will present a wide selection of music written during the Renaissance, including pieces by John Dowland (The King of Denmark’s galliard), Thomas Morley, Tobias Hume,  Guglielmo Ebreo da Pesaro, Vincenzo Capirola, Diego Ortiz, and  Claudio Monteverdi.

The  Consort musicians include Julie Bosworth, soprano; Mark Cudek, cittern, doumbec, riq; Jeffrey Grabelle, treble and bass viols; Brian Kay, lute and oud; Jeremy Lyons, bandora and Baroque guitar; Daniel Moody, countertenor; and Aik Shin Tan, Renaissance flute and recorders

“In one evening we will be hearing music chosen from this wonderful era that may well have accompanied the plays of Shakespeare and amused royalty in their courts and in their banquet halls,” says Dr. Randy Bellows, one of the organizers of the Kent Chamber Music Series.

Tickets are $15 at the door ($1 for students with ID). Hotchkiss Recital Hall is located in the Gibson Center for the Arts on the Washington College campus, 300 Washington Avenue, Chestertown. For further information, please call 410-810-1834 or visit http://www.kentchambermusic.com/
