A Sept. 3 panel brings environmental attorneys Lynn Bergeson and Jane Barrett to campus to talk about issues and careers at the intersection of law, science and public policy.

CHESTERTOWN, MD—Washington College will host legal experts Lynn Bergeson and Jane Barrett for a conversation on “Environmental Policy and Regulation,” on Tuesday, September 3, at 4 p.m. in Hynson Lounge, Hodson Hall, on the College campus, 300 Washington Avenue.   

Lynn Bergeson is managing partner of Bergeson & Campbell PC, in Washington, D.C.  She has gained international recognition for her work with chemical regulatory programs under the Toxic Substances Control Act and on issues relating to emerging technologies, especially nanotechnology. She recently joined the Washington College Board of Visitors & Governors. 

Jane Barrett, director of the Environmental Law Clinic at the University of Maryland, has worked in environmental law at both the local and national levels. She has served in the Environmental Protection Agency and worked as an Assistant United States Attorney. 

Sponsored by the Center for Environment & Society and the McLain Program for Environmental Studies, this event is the first in a fall lecture series titled “What can I do with my Environmental Studies Degree?”  It is free and open to the public.
