Location: Mobile, Alabama
Over spring break, Habitat for Humanity traveled down to Mobile, Alabama to participate in a service trip. There were a total of 30 participants, including students from a variety of different clubs and organizations. It was the furthest the club had ever traveled away from the college for a trip. The group enjoyed the new experience and the warm weather down south.
Throughout the week the club worked to help update Mobile’s Habitat for Humanity Restore, doing renovations and finishing touches on several of the houses owned by the Mobile Habitat for Humanity affiliate. Restores are stores associated with the Habitat for Humanity organization that take in donations of furniture, appliances, tools, etc. and sell them for an affordable price. The profit from the restores goes back into the costs for building new Habitat homes. Some of the things members of the club were able to do throughout the week included painting, flooring, and siding. The group was also able to spend a lot of time together doing fun activities like going to the beach and exploring the local area.
